I'm Reminded

I look out my window
and watch the crows cry out at each other
at the same time
watch the squirrels chatter
as they gather the pecans
across the yard

and I'm reminded
of what some miss
if they don't take time to
smell the roses

life is too short to be taken for granted
and why not enjoy what is right in front of you
it only takes a moment

blink your eyes
and time blazes
like a comet
never remaining the same.
